Botswana's cricket World Cup hopes fade

Uganda inflicted the first loss on Monday, a 52-run defeat, after the first match against neighbours Namibia was washed out on Sunday. 

Yesterday Botswana fared better, but still registered an 11-run loss to Nigeria, which severely dented the team's chances of progressing to the final stage of the qualifiers to be held in the United Arab Emirates in October this year.

The top two out of the six teams taking part in the Africa qualifiers, will proceed to the UAE as countries look to book their spot in next year's World Cup, which Australia hosts.

On Tuesday, Botswana bowled out the Nigerians for 119, with a ball to spare. However, Botswana failed to chase down the total, managing 108/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

Today Botswana will square up against Nigeria, in a bid to put theirs back on track.

Namibia has been in imperious form, winning both their two games against Ghana and Uganda in convincing fashion.
