Myanmar-bound Masalile to hoist Botswana flag

The 12-year-old Rainbow English Medium Standard Seven pupil told Arts & Culture she was looking forward to competing at the international platform.
Masalile said the pageant would allow her to meet fellow contestants from different cultural backgrounds and races. She explained that she was willing to learn a lot from her peers on the international platform.
“Even though I am not a stranger to beauty pageantry, I have never competed internationally. I am willing to learn a lot from the upcoming beauty pageant. I am confident that I will represent Botswana very well and I will try my level best to bring the title home,” she said.
The young Miss Princess International Botswana said so far, preparations for the pageantry were going well. Masalile said they were working tirelessly towards winning the crown. She said she hopes to take part in many international pageants in future. She acknowledged that the competition will not be easy because she will be competing against other talented queens from different walks of life.
Like other beauty queens who have to compete internationally, she said she and the local pageant were facing financial constraints. She explained that they needed money for accommodation, transport and food whilst in Myanmar.
For her part, the pageantry director in Botswana Kefentse Gokganwang said Miss Princess International would be celebrating its 19th anniversary this year.
She said they would be competing against more than 100 countries across the world. The pageant is open to both boys and girls and the international pageantry is dubbed Mister and Miss Prince and Princess International. “This pageant is eligible for persons aged between four and 19 years.
It will be divided into four categories such as mini Prince and Princess International for children aged between four and seven years, Little Prince and Princess International for children aged between eight and 11 years, Pre-teen for children aged between 12 and 14 years and lastly Teen Mister and Miss International for teenagers aged between 15 and 19 years,” she said.
She explained that the pageantry aims to promote talent, cultural exchange and also exposes the contestants to international pageantry while giving them an opportunity to network with other children from different countries. She also called on potential sponsors to come on board.
