Winter is here!

As winter is slowly creeping in, a lot of people fight to look good even in the coldest days. Famous fashion designer, Miuccia Prada once said “Whatever you wear is how you present yourself to the world, especially today, when human contacts are so quick, fashion is an instant language.”

To get more insight on what to wear this coming winter Arts & Culture talked to local fashion designer, Gorata Morapedi.

She quickly revealed that looking fashionable in winter does not need people to spend a fortune.  But a little mix of our everyday outfits works out perfectly fine.

She recommends that for a formal day in the office for ladies one could do with a pair of skinny formal pants, thigh high boots, and a fitted knee length winter coat. As for a casual night out, Morapedi suggested one could do with a pair of skinny jeans, a pair of uggs and throw on a woolies knitted cardigan.

“For the gentlemen, polo necks are in fashion. Substituting a shirt for a polo neck, turtlenecks, roll necks goes along quite well with a suit.  Perfect for a day at the office and for a night out with the guys.  Just add a man’s scarf to add a little bit of casualty in it,” she added.

Given that looks say more about an individual before they even get the opportunity to present themselves, a quote from the legendary fashion icon Rachel Zoe states that, “Style is a way to say whom you are without having to speak.”

When it comes to winter days people are quite lazy and do not really concern about how they look.

Their main concern is on keeping warm which results in them throwing on whatever they can find.  They also do not mind the colour combination that is quite vital in the fashion world. This has a huge impact on people’s perception of others taking us back to how looks say so much about a person before they can breath a word.

With the oldies fashion making a major come back these days, a little vintage here and there to add a little colour to the dull winter colours. To get classy and sassy at work a high waisted formal vintage pants paired with stilettos, a polo neck a fitted coat one can never go wrong.

Furs always make statements. So people can always throw on a bit of fur to be warm and sophisticated at the same time.
