The two accused, Zimbabwean national,  Clifford Zvidzai Takaza and Gosego Agang Tapela, appeared at the Village Magistrate Court yesterday.  Botswana police arrested the pair over the weekend. In a brief court appearance, police applied for the men to be remanded in custody arguing that three others were still at large and the men in custody had only just been caught.

The pair, Ramotswa-born Tapela, 30, and Takaza, 32, were arrested on Sunday at Mmopane village. The men are accused of invading Seretse’s home in Gaborone North on August 19, making away with goods amounting to P362,000. Police revealed that Seretse’s vehicle, Toyota Hilux Double Cab, was recovered abandoned near a thicket behind Sir Seretse Khama Barracks on the day of the incident.

“The rest of the items which include bedding, clothing, electric appliances and other utensils were recovered at the time of the arrest,” read the police statement.

Whilst investigations continue, police have appealed to members of the public to assist with information that may lead to the arrest of the three remaining suspects. The case will continue on September 21, 2016.
