Speaking to Showtime, one of the organisers,Wana Njolomba said last year’s event was only limited to film and TV producers but this year they decided to include all the content producers.

“We are working on producing a magazine and DVD that will incorporate the works of different content producers,” said Njolomba. One of their partners in the exhibition being Copyright Society of Botswana (COSBOTS) who also had a stall at the exhibition said they are mandated to collect royalties and also license users of copyrighted works.

Bosa Mantswe from COSBOTS mentioned that they cover tangible works, be it music, literacy work, paintings to mention only but a few.

“We at COSBOTS do not look at the status of the artist in order to collect royalties for them. Whether the artist is established or not we cover them and collect royalties for them given their songs are being played in radio stations,” Mantswe mentioned.

“We are here today to let content producers know that they can very much benefit from their work,” Mantswe advised.

One of the attendees who is also a fashion designers founder and owner of House of Kay, Kaone Moremong said the exhibition was a good platform for her to showcase her work since she has now created possible partnerships with other content producers to dress their actors for different characters.

“For me content producing is a broad spectrum. I would advise that an exhibition of this calibre should be held annually, and also collaborate with international content producers,” Moremong said.
