BDP Museum Launch On September 15

Shashe West Member of Parliament (MP) Fidelis Molao who heads a committee tasked with coordinating the launch of the museum said the temporary facility would be launched on September 15, with exhibitions of the party’s milestones on display.

“It will not be a typical museum, which is usually a permanent structure. The exhibition will last until the 25th or the 26th of September,” Molao said.

He said the museum will be within an open space at the National Museum premises in Gaborone.

“So far we have made impressive progress with regards to collecting historical information about the party. We are still searching for more historical material mostly from our members,” Molao said, adding that exhibitions would include displays of speeches made by the party’s previous leaders as well as old party manifestos among others.

Molao said if all go according to plan the BDP would air a mini documentary summarising the party’s journey from the days of its formation in 1962 till today.

The temporary museum is meant to help the party educate its members and the general public about its history.
