BotswanaPost Steers Sefalanas Online Shopping

The new post offices, which are located in Sefalana Hyper, Gaborone West, Nkoyaphiri and Tlokweng Sefalana stores were built following a successful pilot phase.

Currently three of the post offices, which include Sefalana Hyper, Gaborone West and Nkoyaphiri, are operational while Tlokweng is still under construction.

According to BotswanaPost general manager marketing and communications, Lebogang Bok, this partnership will benefit both companies noting that Sefalana post offices are intended to increase accessibility to the wide range of products and services offered by BotswanaPost and enhance the customer-shopping experience.

She said that this will be convenient to both Sefalana and the Post’s clientele as while shopping at Sefalana, customers will now be able to renew their post boxes, send and receive money, renew licenses and pay for their water bills.

“These post offices will not sell products that are being sold in Sefalana stores such as airtime, electricity and stationery,” she said.  She added that Sefalana has on its own demonstrated unquestionable capability coupled with their boldness to grow their portfolio and client base, especially in the retail sector as one of the visible retail giants.  Five months ago, Sefalana introduced online grocery shopping in collaboration with BotswanaPost, which will be taking care of the logistics while Barclays Bank will ensure safety during the online transactions through their partners, United Kingdom-based Cyber Source.

As part of the service, customers can order groceries worth a minimum of P500 online, which Sefalana will deliver for a fee of P50.00.  For now, perishables are not delivered, as trucks that deliver are not refrigerated.

The goods are delivered within 24 hours and usually Sefalana makes follow-up calls to ensure if the customer received the right products on time.  The service would then be rolled out to other parts of Botswana.
