The event, which was held at Molapo Stanbic Bank Piazza last Wednesday was jam-packed and the energy of the music fans that had thronged the venue, easily transformed the vibe on the stage.  It was midweek and nobody expected such a crowd, but the Piazza was a full house. On the line up was Kwaito king, Arthur Mafokate, Malaika, Mapetla, Chommie, DJ Sly, DJ Ngwazi and DJ Hapex Guru and they made the night memorable for many with their highly charged performances.

Both Mafokate and Malaika were returning to Botswana after many years and their performances were obviously under scrutiny as the show’s headliners. Multi-award winning Malaika had for years gone quiet in the music industry and this was probably a chance to endear themselves to their local fans and rekindle their popularity in the country and so they did. First it was local boy Mapetla up on stage.

Mapetla who has also been missing in action showed that he still has a lot to offer.  He performed songs that made him a household name in the early 2000s. He also sampled songs from his coming album. Mapetla also performed alongside his sister, Katlego Ntirang. He set the mood for a good show.

Picking up where Mapetla left off, was Mafokate who also moved the tempo up a few notches when he entered the stage with the famous Mnike hit and his energetic three dancers. Popular 999 Record label singer and dancer, Chommie joined them on stage.

But as Mafokate said he is about to leave the stage, one could sense the anxiety from the fans antsy over Malaika.  The reaction from the Molapo Stanbic Bank Piazza crowd when they entered the stage was unbelievable.

Both Bongani Nchang and Matshediso Mholo might have felt the love from the crowd as they also gave their best.  They performed songs such as Gauteng, Sebakanyana, Destiny and 2 Bob.  It was a performance worth every single thebe that one could have spent on the ticket and a night to remember.
