Gamotho had filed a case before court raising an objection in terms of Section 18 of the Electoral Act with respect to the inclusion of Gaolathe in the voters roll.

He argued that Gaolathe used a residential plot to register for the upcoming general election though he knew that it was not his area of residence as required by the Electoral  Act.

However,  Gamotho conceded a defeat after Gaolathe reportedly proved that the residence was legitimate hence satisfied the requirements set out by the Independent Electoral Commission.

Through the settlement agreement, the pair agreed to let the matter rest.

“It is declared that the respondent has satisfied the legal and constitutional requirement for registration in terms of the Electoral Act and Constitution of Botswana, consequently the applicant does not persist with the objection and each party will bear their legal costs in the matter,” reads the agreement.

Meanwhile Gaolathe’s attorney Uyapo Ndadi said they expect more cases as more people are reportedly gearing to protest against the MP.

In a press briefing,  he disclosed that he would deal with the cases as they come.

“We have heard that there are about 10 people who are intending to protest against my client.  s it stands for now we will wait, and deal with the cases as they come. For now we are happy that this one is over,” he said.
