In the player of the season category, Rollers’ top goal scorer, Joel Mogorosi will battle it out with Galaxy duo, Thero Setsile and Ezekiel Morake. Mogorosi scored some crucial goals for his club and helped them win the league for the fourth time in a row.

His performances saw him return to the national team set up where he has led a crop of young players into this year’s COSAFA Cup final.

Setsile on the other hand, also did exceptionally well although his side fell short of claiming their first BTC Premiership trophy.

Besides being an integral part of the Zebras side, Setsile’s exploits have seen him secure a contract with South African side, TS Galaxy together with Morake.  Morake has also been nominated for the goalkeeper of the season where he is likely to come out tops against Tumiso Mashakola and Lesego Bosekeng of BDF XI and Police XI respectively.

Setsile who is assured of a Green Boot award after scoring 18 goals will also fight it out for the players’ player of the season award against Rollers’ exciting midfielder, Mothusi Cooper and Orapa United’s Gofaone Mabaya.

Young players in the league will also be recognised with Kago Monyake of Rollers, Baokeditswe Talane of Extension Gunners and Bakang Leshona of Mochudi Centre Chiefs nominated for the award.

An interesting battle ensues between Police XI gaffer, Mike Sithole, Louis Setshwane (BDF) and Galaxy coach, Miguel Da Costa. Sithole and Da Costa in particular have done well in their first season with their respective sides.

Da Costa joined Galaxy after the start of the first round and helped them finish just two points behind Rollers in the league. Sithole moved to Police XI at the start of the season and transformed them from being relegation candidates in the past two seasons to see them finish fourth.

The Botswana Premier League (BPL) technical committee is responsible for selecting nominees. The nominees for the referee and assistant referee of the season await a release from the Referees Commission.

According to a statement from the BPL, the date and venue for the awards ceremony have not been determined as yet.
