The day-long activities will include among others aerobics, 5-aside soccer, mini bootcamp, 10km bushwalk in Modipane historic sites, and fitness challenge and fun games for children.

The organisers are also using the wellness day as a build up to the Jwaneng Bush walk slated for July.

Modville Wellness Day chief organiser, Gavin Makgatlhe has acknowledged the understanding Batswana continue to have towards giving back to the community and also maintaining fitness.  “The patronage has been overwhelming. We started this club just to keep fit, however, when different mindsets came together we thought of charity and we conceptualised this charity walk.

We have impacted the community of Modipane in different ways as in contributions to the building of Modipane kgotla shelter, refurbishment of the local post office, donation of clothes to the underprivileged, cleaning campaigns through exercise and training,” he added.

The club has further benchmarked on various charity walks such as the Jwaneng Desert Bush Walk and Cycling for Cancer organised by Joy Foundation in Jwaneng and Mochudi respectively to continuously run their mandate professionally.

Makgatlhe said their brainchild event has further sparked interest from individuals, clubs and other groups who have participated in their sessions and are eager to start similar projects in their communities.

“The event has grown in leaps and bounds and has over the years attracted a good number of participants. This year we expect more than 250 people. The concept was born four years ago as we realised we need to impact on lives by being compassionate.”

This year’s Chief Guest walker is Donald Koogotsitse who will be accompanied by singer Charma Gal. Koogotsitse is a motivator, youth development practitioner, entrepreneurship and leadership trainer whilst CharmaGal is a fitness fanatic and music star.
