The event was set to give women a platform to enjoy all the things that make them gleeful and relaxed, not only that, it also through the provision of exhibition space, wanted to expose women in the SMME sector to an affording market with high standards to enable them not only to sell their products, but to also get market feedback instantly.

Even though the attendance was low, fashion designers still went on to showcase their work given that the event was everything wine, everything women and everything fashion.

Local fashion designer Boitumelo Seboko, who has had the opportunity to showcase her works internationally mentioned that because wine was the order of the day her colours were inspired by wine.

“In wine we have our Ruby Red, Blood Red and all those dark colours, hence I went for those colours,” Seboko added.

She however, mentioned that she hoped the event would be bigger than what she saw and that since it was a first, she believes it will grow with time.

“Above all, being a designer has its pros and cons. We have shops everywhere with online shopping and the market is quite saturated.

That is why we appreciate such events, which give us the necessary exposure,” Seboko said.

Speaking to Showtime, project manager Setho Mongatane mentioned that even though the turn out was not what they had expected, she was content with the fact that exhibitors had come out in numbers. “We cannot always be happy, given that the event is a first ever of its kind.  Part of me is actually happy with how some things actually unfolded,” Mongatane said. She said Batswana should come early to events.
