Nasha Calls On Masisi To Resign

Speaking at the launch of Alliance for Progressives’ (AP) Gaborone North candidate, Thatayaone Molefhi at Botlhale School on Saturday, Nasha asserted that over the years, the ruling party leadership has been intolerant to opposition parties.
“What is happening now, is not new to us. It happened even to me when I was a member of the party. The leadership only wants people who will praise them even when they do wrong and that is exactly what President Mokgweetsi Masisi is doing,” Nasha said.
“He cannot be apologising to people now for having been at the forefront during amendments of benefits of retired presidents. Masisi must step down because what he has done is wrong.”
Nasha said it was disturbing and abuse of government resources for the leadership or members of the BDP to impress their outgoing leaders with government resources.
The former speaker also said her party had asked for permission to use UB Indoor Sports arena, but the authorities turned their request down last minute. “We are not shocked that they lock halls when the new party had booked them. Intolerance happened even at Kang when Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi wanted to challenge Masisi for presidency. There is no difference between the former and current leadership,” Nasha posited.
Additionally, she said: “Batho ba ba dubileng lefatshe. Dilo tse ba di dirile botlhe, ga gona wa pele le wa morago. We cannot trust this government; we will persevere until we win as AP. The only man with integrity and that could be trusted is Ndaba Gaolathe.”
Nasha stated that she is not shocked about recent cases at Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), that seek to strike off people from voters’ roll because there is a political influence. For his part, AP leader Gaolathe thanked some Batswana and his party members who are praying for him and his party to win general elections.
“I want to urge you, AP members not to celebrate any injustice that happens to any members of opposition parties whether we differ with them or not. It is wrong for the country to deny others facilities to hold meetings or even to fly by bringing unnecessary charges that also cost high fees,” Gaolathe said.
“The reason why all these things are happening is because there is fear that government might change. This is time for people to change things through voting and time is now. AP should speak the truth that would deliver Batswana.”
He urged Gaborone North residents to vote for Molefhi in order for the candidate to change their lives.
