Serial offender denied bail

Kwaeta Mbikiwa tried without success to hold on to his freedom before Justice Phadi Solomon.

When denying Mbikiwa bail, Solomon said that there was no change of circumstances that warranted Mbikiwa to be granted bail.

Solomon had previously denied Mbikiwa bail last September.

Mbikiwa was denied bail because he was once granted bail only for him to abscond from attending court as and when required to do so.

Prosecutor Goabaone Motlhagodi prayed with the court to deny Mbikiwa bail because he was a flight risk.

Justice Solomon said: “There is nothing new presented before court, which will make me change my decision to deny you bail.  Your murder trial is starting in August. This court has previously dealt with this matter (functus officio). You may apply for bail at the Court of Appeal if you need it”.
