Mantswe, who is the Botswana Premier League (BPL) board vice chairperson, stood in 2016, but came a distant third, behind Tebogo Sebego and the eventual winner, Maclean Letshwiti.

He had anchored his campaign on ‘integrity’ promising to clean the game.

However, he fell in the first round as he failed to garner enough votes, as Sebego and Letshwiti went for a run-off.

Next year’s campaign is already shaping up, with both Letshwiti and Sebego expected to slug it out.

But Mantswe told Mmegi Sport yesterday that he has not made up his mind.

“I am yet to decide,” he said.

Letshwiti had promised to run for one term, but all indicates to a shot at the second one. There has been mudslinging already with Sebego accusing the current administration of using underhanded tactics to nudge him out of the race. This is despite the election being more than 12 months away.

Sebego was recently charged and acquitted after his social media posts criticising the administration at Lekidi Centre. The former president has further alleged that his kith and kin in football are being deliberately purged, as a way of weakening his support base.
