The settlement is one kilometre to the north west of Mogobane village. Mojadife is an area located adjacent to Mogobane historically existed as a ploughing field area. Bamalete Land Board wanted to demolish households for people they considered squatters in the settlement.

The threat of demolition prompted SEDC to form a task team led by District Commissioners and other stakeholders to investigate how the settlement came into being.

The area and other neighbouring settlements including Mogobane began as guarded territorial points after a war between Balete and Bangwaketsi,

The Land Board had taken some of the residents to court accusing them of having left their households in Ramotswa preferring to stay at Mojadife, The Land Board regarded Mojadife as a ploughing field.

According to the SEDC report, Mojadife does not meet the minimum requirement of 250 people to qualify as a settlement.

“The area is however urbanising. For example, provision of school and residential plots, which may require supporting in future. T

he area is also serviced with infrastructure facilities such as water and electricity.

These developments are not accustomed with agricultural areas but exist through injection of government/public funds and should be adequately utilised. The pressure for land growth may in future extend to Mojadife fuelled by land speculation hence the need to manage at early stage,” the report says.

The report further states that the residents collectively, acknowledge how Mojadife has evolved and implications associated that have impacted on their livelihood.

The report says the Land Board should demarcate growth areas for preparation of a layout with urban uses and demarcate land to be reserved for agriculture for food security.

Majority of plots in Mojadife are developed except one and the area has 160 residents.

The report shows that there is an existing primary school started operations in 1990 which, which was allocated by Bamalete Land Board in 1980.

The school has seven classroom blocks and has enrolled all the streams from Standard 1-7. The current enrolment of Mojadife primary school is 222 students with capacity of nine teachers, including head teacher as at November 2018.The school admits Mojadife, Monogeng, Lenkwane settlements and Mogobane village.

SDEC chairperson Phenyo Segokgo confirmed that council has approved the report.
