Local Transfer Window Extended

The BFA however heeded to a request by the Botswana Premier League (BPL) to extend the date following a period of uncertainty towards the end of the 2015/16 league season.

The season took longer than initially expected because of an issue involving bitter rivals, Township Rollers and Mochudi Centre Chiefs.

The issue was finally laid to rest two weeks ago through a play-off match that saw Rollers thrash Chiefs 5-1 to become the league champions. “BFA Affiliates and structures are however advised that this extension does not in anyway apply to players seeking international clearances (to or away from Botswana).

Notwithstanding, international clearances that have been processed in respect of professional players, but are still awaiting other local certificate(s) such as work permits, will enjoy this dispensation,” BFA chief executive officer, Kitso Kemoeng said through a media statement.

Meanwhile, Chiefs have finally made their presence felt in the current transfer window last week when they signed eight players to bolster their squad.

Jerome Ramatlhakwana, Phenyo Mongala and Noah Maposa returned after spells with different clubs.

Both Maposa and Ramatlhakwana have been playing for Rollers in the past two seasons.

Ramatlhakwana’s loan spell came to an end and have since signed a one year loan deal from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) side, Don Bosco.

Maposa was released by Rollers following the return of Mwampule Masule from BDF XI.

Chiefs have also announced signings of Allen Ndodole from Nico United, Stanley Ngala from Bulawayo Chiefs (Zimbabwe), Remmington Masuku from Tsholotsho (Zimbabwe) and Goitseone Lekgopelo from Pilikwe United.

Charles Mutero also returned to the club after leaving for his home country last season.
