Mpote led Orapa United to a 3-0 trouncing of Rollers thereby lifting the maiden Orange FA Cup, a career first for the season tactician, Mpote.

Speaking to journalists after the game, Mpote said the FA Cup final laid a perfect platform to stop Rollers’ dominance while proving his critics wrong.

Mpote served in the Rollers technical team for close to a decade, but left after a row with then coach, Nikola Kavazovic.

“I cannot (respond). Everybody has their own opinion. People just see me now, but I have been here for a very long time.  I promoted Miscellaneous and BR Highlanders to the Premier League.

I went to Rollers and I told them  (Mochudi) Centre Chiefs is dominant and we should stop the dominance and we did it.”

“I came to Orapa (United) and I sold them the same picture. I am now appealing to all the coaches to stop the Rollers dominance, if anyone can do it, it is the coaches. It is not by fluke that we have won the cup.

“You cannot call yourself a good coach while you have not won against a team that has been dominant for the last five years. I have never lost many games to Rollers. They only beat us once when I was appointed head of development.

Now I am back with the senior team and I am showing people that I am capable,” he said.

Mpote has had a good season as United finished third in the league. He also guided Zebras to the second position at this year’s COSAFA Cup.
