Twenty-year-old Thato San from Ramotswa, a beauty therapist and a mentor in the beauty industry, is passion driven. She has opened her own beauty bar.

The beauty therapist, who is a beauty and nail technician graduate of New Skills Academy located in South Africa, offers a head-to-toe experience that improves the clients’ quality of life by making them look and feel their best.

San stated that as a woman, it is important to take care of one’s skin, nails for aesthetic enhancement. “Facial treatments improve a person’s muscle tone and it decreases appearance of lines and wrinkles and deep-cleansing facial treat breakouts and reduce future ones,” San explained.

With her newly established beauty bar, located at Sefoke Ward, Tlokweng, Near Senn Foods, which has been operating since last October, the beauty therapist revealed to Business Monitor that she offers beauty services to her clients, but mainly specialises in facials where she uses organics to treat customers’ skin.

San indicated that she wanted to be a unique beauty therapist who also looks after her clients by offering them products that will be gentle and friendly to their skin at the same time being user-friendly, which she makes herself.

She highlighted that the use of organic facials is what makes her unique from other beauty therapists. San indicated that organic facials involve the use of face masks made of herbs, fruits, clays and non-chemicals.

“Beauty therapy also involves relaxation treatments, such as massages for (relaxing the) muscles,” said San.

However, San highlighted that ever since the inception of her business, the reception has not been quite what she had hoped for.

This is because she operates from home and has seen little growth in her business this year. However, the determined beauty therapist stated that she is looking forward to expanding her business and has looked into finding a more professional operating space. She is also planning on launching her own beauty products line.

Additionally, San highlighted that she also offers tutoring lessons for aspiring upcoming beauty therapists.

San revealed that before she can actually make a facial treatment on anyone, she first conducts a skin analysis and advises clients on beauty care treatments as well as prepare a questionnaire to ensure that her clients are not allergic to any of her organic products.
