Learners' Food Stolen At Kumakwane

Reports indicate that the suspects broke into the school’s food storeroom and made away with food worth P22, 000. The stolen items include milk, salt, eggs amongst others, all of which was in bulk.

Thamaga police station commander, Superintendent Moses Kwarare confirmed the incident to The Monitor.Kwarare suspect that a gang gained access to the school and broke into the storeroom where pupils’ feeding food was stored.

He said the matter is under investigations, but so far no arrests have been made.

“We suspect the suspects had a car that was used to load the food because they have stolen all of the food that was in the storeroom,” he said.

“We went to the kitchen hands and security guards’ homes, searched them and did not discover any traces of the stolen food.”  Asked if the security guards who were on duty managed to see the culprits, Kwarare said the two guards claimed they were asleep when the criminals broke into the storeroom.

“The kitchen hands discovered that the storeroom was broken into and food stolen in the morning when reporting to work and alerted the police,” Kwarare said.

“We suspect the security guards were not around when the incident occurred, because they could have been the first people to discover that the storeroom was broken into, not to be discovered by kitchen hands as it was the case.”

Kwarare said the two security guards are oldies with one aged 68 while the other is 70.

He pleaded with members of the community to help catch the suspects.

“We are pleading with those who can see people in possession of food in bulk to contact the nearest police. This is strange thing to have happened; usually thieves target computers not food like in this scenario,” Kwarare said.
