She follows in the footsteps of Steve Bothasitse who was director, sport development and Kearabetswe Galebotse, former director of lands and facilities.

Mothibi has reportedly received offers abroad.

The BNSC is in the middle of a restructuring exercise, which has likely unsettled a number of senior managers, amid reports that some posts will be deemed redundant.

Reached for comment, BNSC chief executive officer (CEO), Falcon Sedimo said they do not share staff issues with the media.  “Therefore, I regret to inform you that we cannot divulge any information about any of our staff members. Kindly ask whoever gave

you the information to deal with the matter,” Sedimo said. He said directors who left the commission had other offers elsewhere, which is a normal thing.

Mothibi joined BNSC in 2010 and, in 2014, moved to head the International Working Group on Women and Sport (IWG) secretariat that was based in Botswana for four years.

Mothibi reverted to her position at the BNSC when the IWG roving secretariat moved to New Zealand in 2018. Mothibi said she was not in a position to discuss her future with the BNSC. “I cannot comment on that issue at the moment,” she said.
