David joined Panthers a fortnight ago on a three-month trial and made her first start in a 58-46 loss to Garville netball club. Speaking to Mmegi Sport, David said despite settling in at the early stages, she is struggling with the wintry condition.
In Australia, temperatures are reaching the warmest of 13 degrees, which is much colder than local conditions.
“It is very cold, these are not the conditions I am used to. I think I would struggle to cope. I train twice a week, I do not have enough to be exposed to the weather. I trained everyday, I would say in a month’s time I will be fine,” she said.
The Sebina-born player looks to pick up from an impressive debut where she made a 98% conversion rate, as she looks to secure a permanent deal at the end of the season.
“In my first game I was nervous, I was a little (bit) confused, and there was a lot going on, in my mind. I was thinking of how they play and if I will be able to gel with the rest of the team. I did very well though, I had 100% shot (rate) in the first quarter, and I just missed two balls the whole game.”
Panthers are not in good form for the season as they sit seventh in the eight-team league. David said the team’s performance motivates her to work harder and help her side move out of the dire situation.
“I just need to play and enjoy. I should not put my self under any pressure because then I will be bound to make mistakes. I just have to play my game and impress,” said David.
“The training is not that heavy and intense as compared to what I am used to. Here they focus more on perfecting the skills unlike back home where we do a lot of physical work and less skill implementing.”
