Dintsi motivates youth in new book

The book is titled Making Your Way Through The Maze.

Dintsi has been a public servant at the Administration of Justice and later the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture Development in the Research and Marketing Unit of the Department of National Service and Internship.

She got her inspiration to the pen the book from working with the young people on a daily basis.

“In my interactions with young people whether it was the site visits, gatherings or visitations, I got impacted. Before, I was used to the plight of young relatives asking for bus fares, assistance with assignments and other minor things,” she said.

“My perspective on seeing things changed when I worked directly with the youth as I realised that different kinds of young people from different backgrounds had different pressing needs.”

She explained that different issues that affected different youth always had an effect on her. Dintsi also explained the youth needed life skills such as communication and public presentation skills just to name but a few.

“In the book I argue about the fact that as a young person, a lot is at your disposal so you have to make a meaningful life out of whatever life you have at the time,” she said.  “I talk about common careers for us as young people. I share a story of people like ATI, hard work that Vee Mampeezy has shown over the years. Our athletes are using their skills together with their emotional skills to make a living.” In her book, Dintsi does not only give examples of celebrities. She shows examples of ordinary people in the communities that have stories to tell.

She said those examples could inspire ordinary young Batswana to work hard and improve their wellbeing.

In the chapter, ‘Of Religion, Your Belief System and the Concept of Hard Work’, she asks the reader to unshackle their mentality because that is where it all starts.  She says religion and any belief system should teach love, tolerance, hard work and commitment.

“Whatever the environment presents, nothing ameliorates you as the individual from the responsibility for your life. You are the CEO of your life; hence, the planning and execution lie exclusively with you. The environment only provides the context; you have to sweat,” she wrote.

The book was published at Reach Publishers in South Africa. It is sold at P200 at Botswana Book Centre, Mmamontle Concept Store and Sebilo Book Services.
