His resignation follows that of 10 other councillors from the Central District Council who served Council Chairperson, Peter Williams with letters of resignation from the ruling party.

In his resignation letter, Kaelo says he leaves the party to join the newly formed Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF).

The councillor who has lost BDP primary elections (Bulela Ditswe) recently told Mmegi in an interview that the BDP will forever have a special place in his heart. But given the current situation he has decided to leave the party.

Kaelo warned that if the BDP does not retrace its footsteps more party leaders and voters are going to leave the party just like him and join other political parties more especially BPF.

He stated he is not fighting with the BDP but is currently not happy with how some of its leaders are managing the party.

For instance, he alleged that such leaders have an agenda that is counter that of the party

For that reason, the Councillor said that he is going to join the BPF, formed amongst other leaders, by the former BDP and state President,  Ian Khama.

He said that during Khama’s tenure as the BDP President, he treated every member of the party equally and made sure that their opinions are considered in running the organisation.

When lamenting the unfair treatment he got from the BDP leadership, Kaelo said that he lost the BDP primary elections due to the unfair practices on the party of his rivals.

He shared that during primary elections most people whom resided at Monarch North did not vote due to the change of venues as voters were expected to cast their votes at Phatlogo Primary School, which was moved to Selolwe Junior Secondary School.

He said that the change of venues caused a lot of confusion and inconveniences to some voters. He alleged hat when some voters went to Selolwe Junior Secondary School there was a fight that erupted at the polling station, which led to vandalism of the school.

Kaelo said that the polling station was  then closed  by the school management and the police ,forcing some of the voters  to return home without casting  their votes.

He further said that he then wrote a protest letter to   the party regional office, which they later dismissed and responded that the BDP primary elections in his polling station were legitimate.

After being given a slap in the face by the BDP region office, Kaelo said that he then wrote an appeal to the Central committee and from the view of things his complaint fell on deaf ears because up to date they have not replied to his plea.

The concerned  councillor said that he is now happy that Khama took a stand and formed a new party which  would offer them peace and tranquility.

He said that the BPF promises to value every member equally unlike BDP, which has its preferred people.

Kaelo also disclosed that he is going to contest for the upcoming general elections under the BPF.

He said that more people who lost during the primary elections are going to join the BPF due to the bad treatment by some of the BDP leadership.
