However, he said he has no intentions of voting in the constituency stating that he would transfer his vote to Lerala.

His name appears on the Ledumadumane West  ward voters roll for supplementary registration.

Politicians are concerned that Kgosi Moroka III had trafficked himself to Mogoditshane.

Kgosi Moroka III confirmed to The Monitor this week, that indeed he had registered in Mogoditshane.  “I did so because I was running out of time. If I had not registered, Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) supplementary registration was going to close before I could register at Lerala,” he reasoned.

“I currently stay with my wife in Gaborone because she teaches here and I am a student at Ba Isago College. This registration is temporary because I am going to transfer it to Learala. I even consulted IEC before I registered about my intention to transfer to my principal residence which is Lerala.” Kgosi Moroka III explained that since the voters roll for the last supplementary election is out, he would go to Palapye IEC office to do the transfer to his principal residence.

“Yo o eng a nkwadisa le ene ne ke mmoleletse. Ke a itse gore bangwe ba sepolotiki ba ka e dira kgang mme e seo. Ke batla dithabololo ko Lerala,” he said. He maintained that what he did was not illegal or  does not amount to voter trafficking.

Currently, IEC has 1,549 cases of voter trafficking registered compared to 633 cases in 2014.  Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) aspirant council candidate Phagenyana Phage said they have noticed more than 20 names of people from Lerala and Seleka.

“They are not even known by some of people whose addresses they have used. If him (Kgosi) and other people whom we suspect were trafficked do not transfer then we will object to those names so that they are struck out off the roll. Our issue is that some of those people including Kgosi used landboard area to register,” he said.

Phage said the Botswana Democratic Party candidate for council seat at Ledumadumane West is from Seleka.
