The sponsorship that is running for a sixth consecutive year has seen under 50% increase from last year's P800,000 for the national secondary school football tournament dubbed the COPA Coca-Cola.

Speaking at the sponsorship launch today at Nthwalang JSS, Coca-Cola senior brand manager in Botswana and Namibia, Terreisha Naidoo said the sponsorship would give the students a chance to sharpen their talents thus helping in the development of sports in the country.

'It is an opportunity for teens to enjoy while playing the sport they love.  COPA Coca-Cola inspires teens to promote values of teamwork, discipline, form lasting friendships and assist them in following their dreams.

The COPA Coca-Cola programme continues to expand its footprint, as it is by far the world's largest brand-supported grassroots football program.'

“Football is the universal language spoken on the field.  The experience is not a survival of the fittest showdown.  It is not about who wins or loses. We want to create connections and encourage teens to express themselves through their shared devotion to this beautiful game.

We have built a programme that's not just about competition and sport, but also about championing our values and leaving a lasting legacy,' she said.

For his part BISA president, Joshua Gaotlhobogwe lauded Coca-Cola for their input as they help ease the costs of running school sports competitions.

The zonal finals of the competition will be played over the weekend across the country while the national finals will be played between July 18 and 20 in Gaborone.
