FNB Donates A Kraal At Kanye Show Ground

When addressing the gathering, Kanye Branch Manager Hildah Mooketsi said FNB Botswana places a lot of importance in contributing to the upliftment of their community. She said annually, the Bank contributes one percent of profits after tax to the FNB Botswana Foundation. “Since its establishment in 2001, the foundation has invested more than P40 million in various projects, enriching and uplifting the lives of many people in need across the country,” she said. She added that the foundation has offered support in areas of education, environmental sustainability, arts and culture, sports and recreation and social welfare especially for children.

Mooketsi said she introduced the project in the Kanye branch after resuming her duty in 2013. She said she consulted Kgosi Molope II of Bangwaketse who briefed her about the challenges his village was facing.

“One of the challenges which he highlighted was that of the congestion in the kraals at the main Kgotla, especially during the times when people bring cattle to pay lobola. This gave us an opportunity to identify a need to construct kraals which will in turn benefit the whole Bangwaketse community by easing the overcrowding and congestion at the main kgotla,” she said.

She further applauded her FNB team for its unwavering support and commitment in ensuring that the project to construct kraals became a success.

FNB CEO Steven Bogatsu said this good gesture was a way of thanking Bangwaketse for their support throughout the bank’s 25 years of its existence in Kanye. He said as Botswana celebrates her golden jubilee, FNB was also celebrating silver jubilee.  “We believe in being a responsible corporate citizen. One of our dimensions is the act of giving back to the community.

On this note, I am encouraged by the generosity that Kanye Branch staff members have demonstrated this year. They have built some kraals that we are handing over today,” he said. For his part the  Minister of Agriculture  and  also Kanye MP Patrick Ralotsia urged the private sector in Kanye to partake in developing the village. He said the government could not develop the country on its own. “We need you as individuals and collective capabilities to help the government move Botswana forward. FNB is setting a good example. By building these kraals the bank is encouraging farmers to showcase their livestock so that others can learn from them,” he said.
