Huawei Participates In #ThisIsBotswana Campaign

In continuation of this, the Company has partnered with some of Botswana’s leading influencers under the #ThisIsBotswana campaign, a social campaign that meshes the powerful world of social media with high quality smartphone photography. The project aims to commemorate the uniqueness of Botswana’s culture as we see it today, through the stellar display of the handset that continues to reinvent smartphone photography across the globe: the Huawei P9. The local initiative is also part of a wider global campaign by Huawei to commemorate World Photography Day, commemorated annually on August 19th.

As the world’s first smartphone to be co-engineered with the global iconic brand, Leica Camera AG, the P9 has broken the glass ceiling of conventional perceptions of smartphone photography. Coupled with a pristine body and powerful performance, the device allows users to capture both vivid colour and striking black and white images.

“Since the essence of World Photography Day is to celebrate the universal language of photography, we wanted to use this universal passion as a means to engage influential figures in Botswana’s media and social sphere to celebrate all that makes Batswana unique as a nation. We are honoured and excited to be working with the legendary radio and social personality, Kgosi Kgosidintsi a.k.a, Dollar Mac, and renowned photojournalists, Dave Baaitse of Weekend Post and Pako Lesejane of Botswana Guardian, undoubtedly among Botswana’s greats, in the local industry, to drive conversation and reflection on aspects of life today that resonates with our local culture, captured through the lens of this trendsetting device, the Huawei P9. What makes this campaign even more special to us is the fact that we are in the midst of celebrating Botswana’s Golden Jubilee year as a Republic and we thank our supporters for the incredible reception of our brand and look forward to journeying with them into Botswana’s next 50 years,” said Harvin Appadoo, Sales and Marketing Director for Huawei, Eastern and Southern Africa.

The public is welcomed to join and follow the #ThisIsBotswana conversation across social media platforms that including Facebook and Twitter and even join in on the celebration of Botswana’s heritage by sharing their own captured moments over the coming days using the aforementioned hashtag.

Key to the Huawei P9’s unparalleled imaging capabilities is a dual-camera design that harnesses the great power of Leica’s optical lenses. Leica’s workmanship is world renowned for its precision, attention to detail and industry-leading quality screening standards. The RGB camera on the P9 specialises in capturing colour, while the monochrome camera is outstanding at acquiring picture detail. The two rear cameras of the P9 work in tandem to enable users to create images of superior detail, depth and colour. The P9 excels in low-light conditions, as the dual-camera design guarantees more light and detail. The P9 camera focusing is based on three methodologies – laser, depth calculation and contrast – and automatically selects the one that yields the best result in any given environment.

Equipped with the power, connectivity and speed that today’s high-end smartphone requires, the P9 certainly meets users needs to stay connected from wherever they are. Incorporating a 5.2-inch 1080p display, the P9 is powered by the new Kirin 955 2.5GHz 64-bit ARM-based processor for leading-class mobile performance. The 3,000mAh high-density battery offers P9 users outstanding mobility and battery life.
