Sharps back in the market for new coach

Moseki joined Stars in January from Jwaneng Galaxy where he served as an assistant coach.
He became Sharps’ fourth head coach in less than two full seasons after Keitumetse ‘Pio’ Paul, Rapelang ‘Razor’ Tsatsilebe and Mike Sithole.The club’s secretary general, Kabelo Moremong said Moseki’s short-term contract has since expired, but did not rule out any possibility of reunion with the gaffer.
“He joined us on a short term contract that has since expired. He is at liberty to apply for the job if he wants to. But his performance with the team is not the reason we are looking for a new coach,” he said.
“Yes, we admit that the team did not do well, but he arrived here mid-season. He did not have a chance to assemble the squad, with the type of players he would have liked to work with.” Moremong cast doubt over the future of assistant coach, Kentse Motlhale as he said the decision would be made once the preseason starts.
At Moseki’s appointment, Stars were fifth with 30 points after 17 games. But in his 13-game rein, they suffered eight defeats, won once while they drew four times.
However, the team managed to secure a top eight spot as they finished the league with 37 points level with ninth placed Miscellaneous.
Sources indicate that the club has opted against offering Moseki a new deal due to displeasing results.
Stars have since started the search for a new coach ahead of the preseason after putting out an advert last Friday. The team is looking for a tactician who holds nothing less than a CAF A-licence.
They are also in search of a youth development coach as they look to revamp their technical team ahead of the preseason that is scheduled to start on July 3. New appointments are set for announcement before the end of next month.
Moseki is the second coach to be shown the door in the off-season after Rodolfo Zapata who led Township Rollers to their fourth consecutive title, but the club opted against offering him a new deal.
Meanwhile, Orapa United assistant coach, Zachariah Muzadzi is set to join Gaborone United to serve under newly appointed coach Madinda Ndlovu’s number two.
Pontsho Moloi’s boyhood club, Notwane after a fruitful spell with Extension Gunners, is eyeing him.
A major technical team shake up is expected at Rollers with a number of high profile names linked with the job as Zebras goalkeeper coach, Modiri Marumo is latest to be linked with the club. He is set to join the club as a goalkeeper coach, with Thabo Motang promoted to the assistant coach role.
