The new person will be responsible for all national teams, travel, bookings and to liaise with international clubs, amongst other duties.

Mojaki was in a two-horse race with former Gaborone United general manager, Olebile Sikwane. It is said Sikwane was initially seen as the favourite, but Mojaki has moved ahead and is expected to be announced, as the successful candidate. Mojaki was unavailable at press time while Sikwane refused to comment on the matter.

Sources said Sikwane to BFA was almost a done deal, but there was a u-turn from the association and Mojaki is now the favourite.

BFA chief executive officer, Mfolo Mfolo said the recruitment is ongoing and did not divulge much. “The recruitment of GM Football Operations is ongoing. This is an internal matter that I am constrained to share with outside entities at the moment,” Mfolo said.

He said the new post has long been part of the BFA organogram, with the soccer body in the middle of a restructuring exercise expected to result in job losses.
