The national team play Burkina Faso on September 4 in an insignificant tie as the Zebras are out of contention.

The Zebras have often complained about poor preparations with the BFA saying the lack of finances hinder proper planning. The Tebogo Sebego administration admitted it was finding it difficult to prepare the team, with intermittent boycotts littering the former BFA president’s last months in office.

BFA has said it is too broke to take care of the players’ expenses and all eyes would be on the new man, Maclean Letshwiti on how he handles the issue.

Zebras coach, Peter Butler returned from his native England this week and will group the players in Gaborone on Sunday for a training camp ahead of their last AFCON qualifier away  to Burkina Faso.

The national team is already out of contention after falling 2-1 to Uganda in their last game at the Francistown Sports Complex in June. Butler’s contract expires in March and he is probably waiting for the leadership ‘dust to settle’ before he discusses his future. He said he wants a friendly match before the team travels to West Africa.

“I have the guys coming in on Sunday for the camp and hopefully we can secure a friendly against stronger opposition, but I wait for the powers that be to decide,” Butler said.
