Chinyemba's TAFIC future uncertain

This is the second time Chinyemba has helped TAFIC to return to the top flight. He was appointed TAFIC’s assistant coach in 2016, and immediately helped the team gain promotion to the Premiership.
Then he did not have the necessary qualifications to coach in the top league. He has now acquired a CAF B coaching licence, which is a pre-requisite for one to coach in the Premier League. Chinyemba’s future at TAFIC has dominated headlines in recent weeks. There are reports that his days at the club are numbered.
Some have even intimated the club has already started looking for an experienced coach and the Zimbabwean might possibly be retained as an assistant coach.
Despite guiding TAFIC to the Premiership, Chinyemba has earned enemies at TAFIC owing to his perceived ‘boring’ style of play.
Some TAFIC supporters and even some within management have openly questioned his tactical prowess.
In his own defence, Chinyemba has maintained that beautiful football cannot win games in the First Division. Chinyemba has openly expressed desire to coach TAFIC in the Premiership. “We will soon release an advert inviting those who are interested in working at the club in various capacities, to apply. The idea is to have everyone working at the club to have a contract,” Sebina said when asked about Chinyemba’s future at the club.
“The expectation is that those who are there including Chinyemba will apply. We will appoint the best applicants. He will have an advantage over others because he has been part of the set up and we are familiar with him,” he added. Sebina said the team has decided to trim the search for new players from nine to six. “We have reviewed our budget and we feel that it will be costly to bring many players.
The idea is to bring three exceptional foreigners and three good local players to complement what we already have. The general feeling within the club leadership is that some players who are already here can do the job in the Premier League. We will release a few players. We are still working on the list of who to release,” he noted.
TAFIC are known for recruiting highly talented foreigners most notably from neighbouring Zimbabwe. The likes of the late Chrispen Nyamutambo, Nicholas Gora and Zachariah Mudzadzi, who later became household names, launched their careers at TAFIC before joining other clubs.
TAFIC’s scouting team is led by the team’s former player, Osenyeng Tsenang. Sebina had told members during the club’s annual general meeting last Saturday that they intended to sign nine players, including three foreigners.
