Be Grateful To Parents, Church Tells Youth

Speaking during a house handover ceremony in Maunatlala recently, Kgare said the spirit of caring is important to building a prosperous nation.

“I want to urge the youth to extend the same gesture they normally give pastors to their parents. I don’t understand why I should be having eggs for breakfast while my parents are hungry,” he said.

“We need to also care about one another including our neighbours because they are part of the society that we live in.”

The church has built a two and half house, a toilet and connected waster for Maunatlala woman Rebecca Mphathane, a single mother of three who lives with her grandchildren. 

“As a church we also want to play a hand in contributing to the societies that we operate in.

This dream started in 2017 when we took a decision and approached social workers in Maunatlala about our idea. They then informed the Palapye council and they collectively chose the beneficiary who turned out to be Mphathane,” he said.

The church then raised funds holding concerts including other activities and ended up raising P143, 000. Some sponsors also came on board furnishing the whole house and buying groceries.

The ministry of local government and rural development permanent secretary, Modise applauded the church and encouraged members to continue in this endeavour.

She said the church’s commitment to play a role in the society takes from the old Vision 2016 pillars.

“It’s not every day we see churches contributing towards the societies they operate in. What St Paul has done will go a long way in the Maunatlala village and blessed is the hand that gives.

The nation shall be saved if we all have this spirit,” she said.

Upon receiving her house keys, Mphathane expressed gratitude to the church saying that they now fit well in the society thanks to the church.
