UB hosts yet another IASTED

The International Association of Science and Technology for Development (IASTED) with its Headquarters in Canada, the United States and the Switzerland is a non-profit organisation founded in Zurich, Switzerland in 1977.

The purpose of IASTED is to promote economic developments through science and technology. This goal is achieved through the more than 410 conferences IASTED has organised in over 30 countries around the world. The conferences are held biannually.

Over 150 participants attended the Fifth IASTED African Conference series held in Gaborone in September 2014, from 23 different countries and the organizers of the conferences and the country will continue to appreciate the benefits and the opportunities that IASTED presents.

The theme of the Conferences for 2016 is “Science and Technology for Development –Responding to Challenges facing society today.”

The conference series will cover the following disciplines:

Power and Energy Systems (AfricaPES 2016) Modelling and Simulation (AfricaMS 2016) Environment and Water Resources Management (AfricaEWRM 2016) Health Informatics (AfricaHI 2016)

This is an immense opportunity to give your media house the chance to keep up-to-date with science and technology. It will also put Botswana on the world map of science, technology, medicine and engineering.

The international participants will also have the opportunity to become acquainted with tourist attractions in Botswana.

Botswana therefore stands to gain both technically and financially from the conferences through acquired knowledge, hotel bookings, tourist packages and more.

The Opening Ceremony is on September 5, while  the closing ceremony is on September 7 2016 both at the Conference Venue, Gaborone International Convention Centre GICC.
