Vikings lose court case

Vikings then took the matter to the Lobatse High Court, where they sought an interdict to halt the qualifiers, pending the outcome of an appeal lodged with the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC). Details of the appeal were not provided during court proceedings on Friday.
The BSA barred Vikings from participating at this year's tournament, after the club failed to pay the participation fee on time.
BSA through their attorney, Itseng Mothibamele of Bogopa, Manewe Attorneys argued that Vikings had failed to show, in their papers, that both the club and BSA have the capacity to sue. The lawyer also said Vikings had failed to make a case for an interdict.
Mothibamele told Mmegi Sport that Registrar of the High Court would determine the cost of the case, after Vikings lost with costs.
Meanwhile, the Southern Zone eliminations were held over the weekend with Bears, Police, Panthers and Titans qualifying from the women's side.
They join Carats, Comets, Scramblers and Rail Giants from the north.
Men's teams that have qualified are Wells, Police, Panthers and BDF IX. Teams from the north that have made the cut are Comets, Carats, Rail Giants and Rebels. The tournament will be held during President’s Day holiday from July 13 to 15 in Selebi-Phikwe.
