Multitudes attend BCC family fun day

The event aimed to celebrate BCC’s 50 years of existence and its contribution to the country’s development.
The event was full of festivities such as aerobics that was conducted by Fitness Boot Camp, three Mascot dances and interaction with children, scouts, brass bands from various churches such as St Paul Jwaneng Choir and Revelations Church Choir in Gaborone.
Gospel hip-hop artist Fairhope also blessed the congregation with melodious hymns, while the Old Naledi traditional group, Mafitlhakgosi, mesmerised the Christian community with their fabulous song and dance.
The young ones enjoyed quality time with their age mates playing on the jumping castle.
Event coordinator, Bob Dintwe said they decided to organise the event as an effort to take the church to the people.
He said the event, which kick-started with a carnival walk was organised to raise public awareness about the roots of the organisation, giving families an opportunity to have fun together.
Dintwe said the event brought youth together, to network and built relationships under one roof. He said as all the Christians serve one God, it was important for them to be united and celebrate together.
“Our organisation started in 1965, but it was formally established in 1966.
That is why together with the country, we saw it fit to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. Since its establishment, BCC has played a significant role in developing this country.
Its projects include health awareness, education, supply of clean water where we drilled boreholes,” he said.
Dintwe added that other socio-economic activities churches under BCC have been engaged in are advocacy work especially in connection with asylum seekers, refugees, prisoners, women in disadvantaged positions and Basarwa in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR).
He further explained that BCC has worked with the Botswana government to assist refugees at the Dukwi Camp.
