Tanzanian confesses to family trio murder

Prosecution’s Kedumetse Shamukani told the court this earlier today when addressing Broadhurst Chief Magistrate, Lenah Oahile-Mokibe at Kativa Diwanga’s mention, who is Gilala’s co-accused.
Gilala and Diwanga are accused of killing Methuseli Nsoliwa, his wife Sibongile Marks and their daughter Melisa Marks in Gaborone on June 10, 2019.
Shamukani told the court that recently a police investigation team went to Namibia where they met Gilala who confessed to having committed the crime.
“When interrogated Gilala said when committing the crime he was with someone, but refused to disclose the name of that person. Gilala was found in possession of the deceased’s mobile phones and he was also wearing Nsoliwa’s camouflage jacket that was confirmed by Nsoliwa’s nephew,” Shamukani said.
The prosecution went on to disclose that Gilala, currently in custody in a Namibian prison is facing an offence of entering Namibia through an ungazetted point of entry. The case commenced yesterday (Wednesday).
“We have engaged the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) who are currently processing documents for the extradition of Gilala,” Shamukani said.
Oahile-Mokibe, in the meantime, further remanded, Diwanga in custody, but urged the police to speed up their investigations.
