Speaking during the launch of his manifesto at Jessy’s Bistro at the new CBD on Tuesday night, Letshwiti said football should be an industry which creates employment.

“When I leave, I will have employed 5,000 people in four years,” Letshwiti said. Letshwiti said he was presenting himself for football’s top job to save the game from the “constant butchering”. “It pains me to see people butchering football when it is supposed to be an industry,” he said.

Letshwiti said he had toured the regions and received one message; that their concerns were not being attended to.

He said he is confident of pulling a win on Saturday as his manifesto is all inclusive.

“I am ashamed to be part of a football fraternity that has no integrity. I am proud to have taken the decision to stand. I will commit the next four years to reenergise football and restore corporate governance. I just don’t talk, I walk the talk,” he said.

Letshwiti promised to assign technical directors for each region within two months of assuming office.

“I am not looking for fame, I am looking for history. All along we have been playing social football. If you don’t vote for me, that’s the death of football. We have to take the coffin and bury it,” Letshwiti said.

He said if BFA was his company, he would have long fired the current leadership. Letshwiti said he will give the Premier League autonomy as it is professional enough to handle its affairs.

His launch attracted cabinet minister, Vincent Seretse and Selebi-Phikwe West Member of Parliament, Dithapelo Keorapetse among other dignitaries.

Among those who endorsed Letshwiti’s candidature were former Public Enterprises, Evaluation and Privatisation Agency (PEEPA) chief executive officer, Joshua Galeforolwe and former Botswana Couriers board chairperson, Puma Matlhware.

Letshwiti faces incumbent, Tebogo Sebego and Solomon Mantswe in the Saturday poll.
