Models convince judges

Every aspiring model wants to stomp top designer catwalks, get featured in the best magazine covers, and in the best commercials. Last weekend at the PDC fashion show there were 30 contestants competing for two crowns in both the female and male category. The winners each received a cash prize of P10, 000. International model Kaone Kario who won the Face of Africa in 2005 was one of the judges. Fashion Without Borders owner and former model, Serge Kabisoso was also a judge at the event.
He explained that they judged not only looking at the height but the confidence from the models. “We wanted some uniqueness, we looked at the walk and also the way you look like as a model,” he highlighted. Kabisoso said they wanted to look at someone and say, “Now this is a model”.
In the male model category, Sydney Kgosietsile pocketed third prize worth P6, 000, Theo Molale took second position worth P8, 000, and the overall winner was Sheppard with P10, 000. Bushiri as the crowd nicknamed him was outstanding all night. The young man who competed in the show for the first time will now get exposure. The win has really boosted his career. In the female category the third position was Teto Macheng, Koziba Ngakile took the second position while Thanolo Keloutlwile walked away with the first prize. Keloutlwile is already booked to take part in a fashion show in Kenya later this year. With her confidence up high, most agencies would be ready to sign her up.
People admire what these upcoming models are bringing to the fashion industry and the models too dream about exciting lifestyles of supermodels and it drives their passion.
With the PDC continuing to unearth talents that would otherwise be unknown, the world will one day know about how they began their early careers.
