Speaking at his launch at Bona Tatso restaurant in Old Naledi yesterday, Sebego said while football needs investment, there should be regulations.

“Although we are beggars, we should maintain our dignity. Investors should be regulated and this committee will look into that,” Sebego said, amid unconfirmed reports of vote buying as the Saturday election draws closer. At the same meeting, Sebego urged delegates to vote as a bloc arguing this would ensure smooth operations at BFA.

Sebego has seen internecine fighting within his National Executive Committee, and now argues, a president must be voted together with his team. “If you want Rre (Solomon) Mantswe or Rre (Maclean) Letshwiti, vote them together with their teams. Fingers point at the leader when things go wrong,” he said.

Sebego once again defended his choice of Tariq Babitseng as second vice president arguing he had the right attributes to be in a leadership position. Babitseng’s candidature was questioned before the Electoral Appeals Committee but the appeal was thrown out, paving way for the former vice president to contest. Sebego said Babitseng had been instrumental in securing several commercial deals for the BFA. On former Zebras midfielder, Masego Ntshingane, who will contest for one of the additional member’s position, Sebego said he would be key as a link with the Footballers Union of Botswana and for development.

His team also includes Susan Montsho (female additional member), Akoonyatse Basadi (1st vice president) Olsen Mantle (additional member) and Abel Monnakgotla (additional member). Sebego said the opportunity has come to address the wrongs by voting the right people.

Sebego’s rival, Maclean Letshwiti was expected to launch his team at the upmarket Jessy’s Bistro at the new CBD last night where Supersport presenter, Thomas Kwenaite was expected to be the guest speaker.

The third presidential candidate, Solomon Mantswe held a low key launch at Maruapula School and he remains optimistic of pulling an upset.
