They were taught about self-defence, and how to behave generally as beauty queens.

When speaking to Show Time, one of the organisers, Osego Maseko said it was only right that they did this because their main mandate was to make sure the girls are trained before the finale. “We have a few training sessions lined up for them this weekend for them to learn the fundamentals of being a beauty queen,” said Maseko.

Phenyo Modisakwane of Diamond Pageantry Academy was also called to train the girls the fundamentals of being a beauty queen and how to live their day to day lives in terms of sitting, behaviour, posture only to mention but a few. Modisakwane who has entered Miss Botswana about four times highlighted that it has moulded her to be person she is today in terms of confidence and Pageantry Etiquette.

“The energy you present as a beauty queen is very vital because it says too much about who you are as person before you even get a chance to introduce yourself,” said Modisakwane while she trained the girls how to properly walk, sit and behave. Modisakwane touched that pageantry should be a part of the girl’s life.

Modisakwane  also presented to the girls about confidence. “When walking to an audition room make sure that your presence is felt but you should also be reserved, there is a huge difference between being confident and what in Setswana we call sehatlha.

The organising team also called Balatedi Makosha from Test Rite Consulting Group who is also the major sponsor of the pageant to train the finalists mentally and to be emotionally intelligent and ready for the obstacles that will come their way. The queen to be crowned at a time that will be disclosed at a later time.
