Colff, making his debut at the Olympics did well on Sunday and finished behind Turkmenistan’s Merdan Atayev and Timothy Wynter of Jamaica who scooped positions one and two reepectively in Heat one of the category. He finished ahead of four other swimmers in this Heat.
However his time of 57.77 was not enough for him to progress to the next stage. Sixteen other swimmers in other heats registered better times and progressed to the next stage ahead of him.
Unlike in other sporting codes, the progression rules in swimming required that athletes finish in the top 16 in the Heats to make it to the semi-finals.
