“We have agreed literally on everything with the coach (Moyo),” club secretary Kebonye Tau revealed. “We are currently processing his work permits and he will start working as soon as his papers are ready.”

Moyo also confirmed he had reached personal terms with Amahot and said he relishes the challenge of turning around the fortunes of the Mahalapye outfit. “I cannot say much until the papers are finalised.

But the truth is I like helping teams in the north. It is always a challenge to coach a small team but it is more enjoyable to get a positive end result with a small side,” he said.

He said he has been on the sidelines of the club as their preparations for the season continue. “I have watched them in training and I think they need to beef up with about five players.”

‘Malume’, as Moyo is affectionately known in the local soccer scene, has coached a number of local clubs. His first assignment in the country was at ECCO City Greens in 2010 where he transformed Mamoja into a force to be reckoned with. The following year he helped Extension Gunners break the 17-year silverware duck. Malume led the Peleng giants to a Coca-Cola Cup glory.

He also helped Orapa United to their historic second place league finish in the 2014/2015 Season. He also coached Prisons XI, BMC (current Gilport Lions) and his immediate past employer was Police XI.

Meanwhile, Tau said their status as a relatively new side has become an obstacle in the recruitment process. “We want to bolster our squad but recruitment has become a problem. Convincing players to join us is an almost impossible mission as we are new and without reputation. We had players training here and other teams keep swooping them under our nose,” he added.

However Tau said they have managed to retain the core of the team that led them to promotion into top-flight football.

“We will be relying on the team that helped us gain promotion. We have about seven players with Premier League experience and hopefully at the end we will add at least four other experienced players,” Tau said.

He said they will not put any pressure on themselves or the coach as their mandate this season is just to retain their Premier League status.
