The organisers through a communiqué on their official Facebook page posted this earlier today.  The communiqué states that the organisers came to the decision after consultations with police, residents of Gaborone North and venue owners due to the complaints by some residents about the noise that permeates from festivals and also issues with some logistics with the former venue.

This does not come as a surprise since the venue has not been booked for music festivals of late.  Music promoters have been having a hard time getting a 6pm to 6am permit with the Gaborone City Council in the past.

A similar event, The Hamptons Jazz Festival had to postpone festivities last year as a result of the Duma FM Grounds venue troubles.  In the past two years GIMC Jazz Festival has been held at the Stanbic Bank Piazza, but the organisers changed the venue this year to accommodate more people.

The Jamali Stadium is a new stadium that is the home venue for local Football Club Township Rollers. It was officially opened last weekend with a game between Rollers and South African giant, Kaizer Chiefs.
