Suspected wife murderer arrested

Letlhakane police station commander, superintendent Michael Maphephu confirmed the man’s appearance in court to The Monitor. He said the alleged killer, Mogomotsi Legae, tried to escape the ends of justice when he disappeared after allegedly killing his wife in cold blood.

Legae was however arrested at Mabesekwa, 60km west of Francistown after a helicopter search.

The deceased, who was employed by the department of meteorological services, was found dead in a pool of blood at her house in Letlhakane by her colleagues last month.

The deceased was supposed to report for a meeting at work but failed to pitch up, raising her co-workers suspicion who then went to check at her home, only to be welcomed by the unpleasant sight of their colleague’s helpless body lying in a pool of blood.

They then reported the incident to the police who confirmed that a sharp weapon was used to kill the deceased, as reports confirmed that the last person seen with the deceased was her estranged husband, whose whereabouts were unknown at the time.

“Fortunately through our police hunt we managed to arrest him at Mabesekwa village and he appeared before court on Friday charged with murder. He is still under our custody and is expected to make his second appearance in 14 days,” said Maphephu.
