Tyte makes a comeback

The album titled Digongwana, is scheduled for launch on August 3, 2019 at The Big Five Lodge in Mogoditshane. Speaking to Arts & Culture this week, Tyte said the 11-track album was released on Tuesday, with the former dancer conceding it is one of her finest works ever.
Having been in the industry since 2003, the 33-year-old Ramotswa-born woman began her music career as a dancer for the late Dwililo ‘Bulldog’ Motshosi and later for Tuli. Thereafter, she became a founding member of one of Frank ‘Franco’ Lesokwane’s sidekick female group, Rockers, as a singer.
Tyte said it has taken a long time to release her second album, but the wait has been worth it. “My previous album, Sthibo, which was produced at Dargie Digital Studio did really well. But I wanted to give it time and also reflect as an artist and come back matured in terms of all musical aspects. Sthibo has been my identity, but I am back with Digongwana, thanks again to Franco and Afro Musica for the support,” she said. Notwithstanding the effects brought along by piracy, which affected CD and cassette sales, her previous album did well and she believes the new release will also conquer.
She explained that Digongwana is more about her life’s experiences both personally and otherwise and speaks to both challenges and successes. “Although I can’t predict, all I can tell you is that I gave my best in this album. I am now much aware and experienced and I believe it will do really well. I am under someone who understands music.
Franco has done and seen it all, so he is the reason why I managed to put together an album after so long,” added the talented singer and dancer.
Tyte believes the local music industry has a lot to offer, but has suffered a knock due to the flocking numbers of ‘fly-by-night artists’. “I wish we could be treated like other professions whereby one is thoroughly vetted before recording and releasing music for public consumption. And it is through such artists that we are judged.
Artists are popping up all over and it’s hard to have bookings. That’s why I believe in collaborations. I don’t do music for competition, but for the love of it,” she said.
On the launch, she said it will feature artists including Mlesho, Matsieng, Franco and Afro Musica, Tshepo G, Rocking Stars, Borara and others who are yet to confirm.
