Tsogwane Graces Desert Bush Walk

The walk, which has been gaining popularity every year attracted participants from as far as Australia and Germany. The annual charity walk took a Bush trail into Jwaneng.
Unlike last year, where it had followed the route of the Desert Race which has since moved to Phikwe, the organisers changed the trail a bit. Both the 30km and 15km hikers were excited to take on the new route. The terrain was tough and challenging but most walkers were committed and willing to finishing what they started. The walk started in the morning and the chief walker this time around was the vice President of Botswana Slumber Tsogwane.
When officially opening the walk, Tsogwane said it was an honour for him to have been part of such a momentous event.
“This walk is not only popular in Botswana but also across Southern Africa. For the past five years it has attracted people from South Africa, Lesotho, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Australia and Germany,” he said.
Tsogwane added that he was grateful for commitment shown by the Jwaneng-Mabutsane local authorities. He also thanked the participants from outside Botswana for their presence. Tsogwane invited them to visit Botswana tourism attraction sites and enjoy the beauty of this country. He commended the Foundation for raising funds and supporting the local communities sustainable development projects in Botswana.
“You have assisted the government in helping the underprivileged members of our society,” he said.
Tsogwane was also quick to encourage the corporate sector to help through the CSR programmes. He said CSI concepts have shown people the spirit of volunteerism and have donated money amounting to P900, 000 in the past. He said this walk has not only generated proceeds but also contributed to the promotion of good health.
