This was revealed at a press conference held at the No.1 Ladies Detective Café at Thapong Visual Arts Centre on Friday.

The initiative is set to utilise the widespread use of social media to spread the message on the importance of appreciating teachers, who are an integral part of the education process.

The bank’s head of marketing and communications, Polelo Kilner said the importance of teachers in the process of education cannot be overemphasised, adding that teachers play an integral role in the development of a country.

She quoted the second pillar of Vision 2036, which states that education and skills are the basis of human resource development, hence their intention to appreciate and motivate teachers who are the facilitators in the learning process.

“We have a deep-rooted respect and regard for our relationship with all our customers, and amongst those is BOSETU,” said BancABC’s head of strategic relationships, Itumeleng Moremong.

“With the annual International Teacher’s Day coming up in October, we saw this as an opportunity to pay homage to that segment of our clientele. We are who we are because of teachers. To the teachers of the world, BancABC salutes you.”

Socialite, Loretta Mekgwe was roped into the initiative to help with her influence on social media. Mekgwe said she was committed to helping push the initiative, as she believed teachers deserve to be appreciated for their hard work.

The initiative was launched a few months ahead of the World Teachers’ Day, which is slated for October 5, 2019.
