UDC Launches Ramotswa Parley Candidate

When launching him on Saturday, the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) vice president, Dumelang Saleshando said Rantuana was hands on in his constituency all the time and knows problems experienced in the area.
“Ha re bua ka rre yo, Rantuana re bua ka motho yo o nang le boleng. Motho yo o itseng go dirisana le batlhophi ba gagwe nako tsotlhe. Ga re bue ka baba batlang go lekelediwa. Monna yo, o lole thata ka kgang tsa Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs),” said Saleshando. He said Rantuana represented the constituents well in Parliament, adding that already developments he called for had already taken place while some were about to be implemented.
Saleshando said UDC councillors were also working hard and he was happy that the South East District Council (SEDC) was addressing the issue of water drainage system and to abate flooding in the area, something that had troubled residents for years.
SEDC offices, including Botswana police station have been prone to flooding during the rainy season.
“I therefore plead with you residents of Ramotswa and surrounding villages to vote Rantuana and his councillors in the coming general elections in large numbers. Rantuana and his councillors have proven to you that they can be trusted and have love for the area,” added Saleshando.
One of the speakers, Botswana Congress Party (BCP) secretary general Phillip Monowe told UDC members that it was time they defended their party leadership wherever they are under attack.
“It is an open secret that the ruling party, Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) leaders are trying everything in their power to intimidate us. What they are doing to UDC president Duma Boko could be done to anyone. The BDP president, Mokgweetsi Masisi must know that we want free and fair elections. There is no need for him to use Botswana Unified Revenue Service, Directorate of Intelligence and Security and police to harass our leader,” Monowe said.
He said it should be clear on what they want from Boko and proper procedures must be followed. “Naare lekgetho le kolotiwa ke ba opposition party hela. Mo go a bonala gore ke sepolotiki eseng sepe gape,” he said.
Monowe said it was time for people to vote for the UDC so that they are not going to be oppressed nor intimidated by the ruling party.
He said the UDC was the only party that stated in its manifesto that it was committed to addressing issues of unemployment rate by creating 100,000 jobs in 12 months, raising living wage to upto P3,000 and old-age pension to P1,500 amongst other things.
