Copa Coca Cola dovetails with BFA's program

The association has been lauded for a deliberate program to nurture talent, with BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti anchoring his campaign on development.

Letshwiti argued that focus should shift to grassroots, in order to ensure sustained success at senior level in the future.

The BFA hired former SAFA technical director, Serame Letsoaka, to drive the program, which has met with mixed fortunes.

Letshwiti attended the launch of the Copa Coca Cola and the finals.

'The Copa Copa Cola is important to us, that is why the president attends it every year. We had our technical team at the finals. As for the teams, we are hoping they take such competitions seriously because Club Licensing require the clubs to have development sides,' BFA marketing and public relations officer, Tumo Mpatane said.

He said they have engaged the Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA)to work as closely as possible in coach development and talent identification, and retention.

Radisele has continued to dominate the tournament, after adding two more titles this year, following last year's double.

The school has been identified as a Centre for Excellence and the results on the pitch are  justifying their case.

Up next is the selection of the national team to take part in the Copa Coca Cola Africa Cup. Kenya hosted the inaugural competition in 2018, while hosts for this year's tournament have not been named.

The annual grassroots tournament has discovered players like Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama and Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi.
